Noni Madueke Explains Arsenal Move After £48.5m Transfer From Chelsea

Noni Madueke, in his first interview as an Arsenal player, has revealed why he left Chelsea to join the Gunners in a £48.5 million summer move.

Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea in a deal initially worth £48.5 million. The English winger, aged 23, has agreed to a five-year contract, with the fee potentially exceeding £50 million through performance-based add-ons.

Madueke, who was part of Chelsea’s squad at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, left the camp before their 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final to finalize his move to the Emirates Stadium.

Taking to Instagram, Madueke wrote: “Humbled and blessed to be here. Thank you to everyone that made this possible. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and start to repay the faith shown in me. It’s going to be so special.”

Since joining Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £30 million, Madueke made 92 appearances, scoring 20 goals. He played a pivotal role in the Blues’ UEFA Conference League triumph last season.

On why he chose Arsenal: “To win all the competitions we’re in, I feel like we’re definitely capable of doing that. And also to help the team in every way I can and grow as a player, but also as a person.”

What jersey number will Noni Madueke wear at Arsenal?

It has been confirmed that Madueke will wear the number 20 jersey for Arsenal in the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
