Liverpool Football Club has officially confirmed the heartbreaking death of forward Diogo Jota, aged 28, following a fatal car accident in Spain.
According to the club’s statement, Jota and his younger brother, André, tragically lost their lives in a road traffic incident earlier this week. The incident reportedly occurred on the A-52 highway near Zamora, Spain, during the early hours of July 3rd, 2025.
In the official statement released on the club’s website, Liverpool said:
“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club has been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, André.
Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and requests that the privacy of Diogo and André’s family, friends, teammates, and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support.”
