
CAF Announces 100% Increase in WAFCON 2024 Prize Money
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled a new and improved prize money structure for the 2024 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to kick off in July 2025.
The historic revision sees a 100% increase in total prize money, marking a major step in promoting women’s football on the African continent. The winner of the upcoming tournament will now walk away with a staggering $1,000,000, double the previous reward of $500,000.

- Winner: $1,000,000
- Runner-up: $500,000
- Third place: $350,000
- Fourth place: $300,000
- Quarter-finalists: $200,000 each
- 3rd place in group stage: $150,000 each
- 4th place in group stage: $125,000 each
This new prize structure brings the total prize pool for the tournament to $3,475,000.
CAF stated that the revised rewards reflect its commitment to professionalising women’s football and encouraging greater competition, investment, and growth in the sport across Africa.
With this significant boost, WAFCON 2024 is poised to become the most rewarding edition in the tournament’s history, further motivating players and nations while setting a new standard for women’s football on the continent.
