🚑 Jamal Musiala Suffers Serious Injury, Likely Out for Majority of 2025/26 Season
Jamal Musiala will most likely be out for the major part of the 2025/26 season following a serious injury he picked up during the quarter-final match between PSG and Bayern Munich at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Bayern Munich confirmed the extent of the injury via an official statement released on Sunday, July 7, 2025.
🔍 What Happened to Jamal Musiala?
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder sustained the injury in the first half after a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma while chasing down a ball near the byline.
Musiala was seen screaming in pain and clutching his left ankle. He covered his face with his shirt as he was stretchered off the pitch and was immediately taken to the hospital for assessment. He has since flown back to Munich for surgery.
📢 Bayern Munich’s Statement
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl expressed deep concern and support in an official club statement:
“This serious injury and the long absence are a real shock for Jamal and all of us. This hits FC Bayern hard. Everyone knows how immensely important Jamal is for our game and what a central role he plays for our team. Furthermore, the human impact is incredibly bitter; we all feel for him: Jamal has just recovered from an injury and will now be out for another long period. He will get everything he needs from us. We will support him intensively and be by his side, and we are already looking forward to him being back on the pitch.”

PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma also sent out a message of support on social media after the game, saying all his prayers and well wishes are with Jamal Musiala during this difficult time.
