The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional alliance of fifteen West African nations. Established on May 28, 1975, its mission is to foster economic cooperation and integration among its member states.

ECOWAS, through its specialized agency GIABA (Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa), is currently inviting applications from qualified candidates for the following role:

🌍 Role Overview

Working under the general supervision of the ICT Officer, the IT Assistant will support computer operations, assist in developing IT procedures, and provide help desk services to both staff and visitors. The role involves diagnosing and resolving common technical issues and contributing to the effective running of GIABA’s IT infrastructure.

🛠️ Responsibilities

  • Operate a wide range of hardware, software, and standard office equipment.
  • Install and configure hardware and software as needed.
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of IT equipment.
  • Support staff with technical issues and troubleshoot computer/network problems.
  • Monitor, track, and escalate IT incidents; maintain an incident log.
  • Manage and update inventories for IT hardware and software.
  • Handle system backups and recovery routines.
  • Cover virtual and hybrid meetings via Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Research new IT tools, technologies, and vendors.
  • Maintain a supplier database and support procurement processes.
  • Carry out other administrative or technical tasks as assigned.

🎓 Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of a National Diploma, NCE, or related certification in Information Technology or similar field, plus technical training in IT practices.
  • At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in an IT-related role, preferably within an international organization or private sector.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving common IT issues.
  • Age: Between 24 and 50 years old (age limit does not apply to internal candidates).
  • Language: Must speak English, French, or Portuguese (fluency in a second ECOWAS official language is an added advantage).

💰 Salary

  • G4: UA 26,768.18 (approx. $42,234.84 annually)
  • G5: UA 31,502.30 (approx. $49,704.33 annually)
  • G6: UA 35,815.21 (approx. $56,509.24 annually)
